Earth Day is an annual event celebrated on April 22. Worldwide, various events are held to demonstrate support for environmental protection. First celebrated in 1970, Earth Day now includes events in more than 193 countries, which are coordinated globally by the Earth Day Network.
"Environmental Protection", though seemingly an innocuously positive phrase, can actually stir up divisive sentiments in society as too often protecting the environment has been framed as coming at the expense of the conveniences of modern life. This is where Tesla comes in. Tesla and its mission "to accelerate...sustainable transport by bringing compelling mass market electric cars to market..." not only fits hand in glove with the spirit of Earth Day, but actually goes one crucial step further: making it compelling to people. In other words, it's no longer a choice of saving the planet OR driving a cool, fast car, but saving the planet BY driving a cool, fast car! For this reason, Tesla's strategy of environmental protection not only promises, but has proven to be, much more effective at actually seeing its goals achieved.
