Hot of the Press: Model Y Interview

TOCNYS is proud to announce that we have three members who have been assigned their VINs for their Tesla Model Y! Steven Lefkowitz from Long Island recently took delivery of his Model Y and was able to provide us with an interview about his experience.

1q.) Is this your first Tesla, if so, what made you choose to go with Tesla?

1a.) This is my first Tesla. I was never even in one before, I test drove a Model 3 and X in early December. This was after I saw a CNBC segment describing the Model Y. I thought it was the coolest thing, and pre-ordered it after I left the showroom in Manhasset. I had to put the $2,500 down, but fully refundable...so it was little risk. I have a family of five, so I was praying the back seat would be big enough for 3 kids...and thankfully it is!

2q.) What made you choose a Model Y over a Model 3 or S/X? What features about the Y made it stand out more than 3 for you?

2a.) I chose the Model Y because I thought it looked so cool, and with a family of 5 I wanted the room to seat 5 and have enough storage space. The Model X was too expensive to consider.

3q.) Which version did you order? When did you order your Model Y? What location did you pick up your Model Y from? How was the delivery experience? Did anything stand out to you from the delivery experience? Did COVID-19 affect your delivery?

3a.) I ordered the Dual Motor in Midnight Silver Metallic with the upgraded 20” Induction wheels.

Ordered first week of December, got the email about getting ready for delivery March 15-31st at Manhasset, and then I got the email for my delivery for March 21st. On March 19th they called me and asked if I wanted the delivery on the 19th or wait... I knew the world was going to basically shut down on Sunday the 22nd at 8pm, so I jumped at the chance to get delivery before that, in fact the store was going to close on Sunday night. I got to the store before the car got there at 10am! When the car pulled in, every employee in the store came out and cheered and took pictures. It was the first one they had seen, it was so wild! Everyone in the store was great, we stayed for close to an hour with everyone teaching me all the tricks and ins and outs of a Tesla.

4q.) If you are coming from an ICE car, how does the Model Y compare to that?

4a.)  Best car I have ever driven, I can’t understand why anyone would drive any other car! (I had a BMW x5 first.)

5q.) Anything else you would like to share about your decision to purchase a Model Y?

5a.) After my first full week with the car, it’s amazing! I couldn’t be happier, and the customer service has been spectacular.
