Last-Minute Search for 10 Albany Tesla Demo Drivers Lands News Article and Hundreds of Sign-ups

For each Sunday in February 2020, TOCNYS has partnered Tesla Mt. Kisco to put on Demo Drive events for the public at the Crossgates Mall Supercharger. The events so far have been well-attended and successful.

Having exhausted Tesla's original list of interested contacts, Tesla's event organizer informed us that they might consider cancelling the final Sunday event on February 23 unless they could find 10 more sign-ups. Undaunted by this challenge, TOCNYS and Capital District EV owners stepped up and made things happen. Albany TOCNYS member Howard K. made an appeal on Facebook and another member posted on the Albany Reddit channel.

What happened next was a little unexpected: ABC News 10 caught wind of the news and posted their own article of the demo drive event. As could be imagined, this led to a flood of incoming sign-ups far beyond the original 10 that were needed. Specifically, as of this writing, there have been 174 sign-ups and growing, almost guaranteed to top off over 200 by the time the event starts.

Fairly soon into the deluge of registrants, it became obvious that TOCNYS and Tesla would have to plan more area demo drive events for the future in order to satisfy the interest. Stay tuned for news on those events, as we'll be sure to announce them as well.
