This Week in Tesla - Model Y Deliveries Officially Begin, Cybertruck Plant Possible Locations

Model Y Deliveries Officially Begin

Tesla was previously preparing to start Model Y deliveries on March 15th; however, they surprisingly decided to deliver the first cars before then. With the commencement of deliveries, Tesla has released several videos and documents showing the world more about the new crossover SUV. This video shows the construction of the cars as well as the cars out in the world. There are also a couple more videos like this one which shows the cargo capacity as well as how easy it is to fold the rear seats. From some of these other videos, the frunk capacity as well as how some other features work can be seen. Along with all of these new videos, the owner's manual has also been released which shows one thing that will be very helpful for EV owners in cold environments such as New York in the winter. As most NY Tesla owners know, range is reduced in the winter due to the battery needing to heat itself and this taking up a lot of energy. The Model Y will use a new heat pump system which is far more efficient and should result in almost no difference in the winter as the summer months. This feature is a great idea for ending the notion that Electric Vehicles have very decreased range and thus functionality during the winter months.

Cybertruck to Be Built in Central US

After Tesla CEO Elon Musk announced that Tesla has begun scouting possible locations for the upcoming Cybertruck to be constructed at, focusing on the central US region of the country. He also unexpectedly announced that the central US factory would also produce Model Y vehicles for the East Coast.

Several states, including Tennessee and Missouri have said that they would provide incentives for Tesla to locate their upcoming factory in their respective states. With the upcoming addition of a central US factory as well as the Berlin factory, Tesla would have a total of six factories worldwide located in: Fremont CA, Sparks NV, Buffalo NY, Shanghai China, Berlin Germany, and central USA. Seeing as at the beginning of 2016, Tesla only had one factory, this is immense progress in a relatively short period of time. Tesla has also made great strides in employing Americans all over the country to contribute to making the world a cleaner and more advanced place.
