Tesla unveils Model Y electric SUV with 300 miles range and 7-seats

On Thursday, Tesla unveiled their fourth production vehicle: the Model Y. Though it was preceded by no lack of teasers to whet the appetite of Tesla fans, it turned out to be not so much revolutionary compared to its sibling, so much as evolutionary - as it combines the small footprint and sportiness of the Model 3 with the roominess and utility of the Model X. Officially it's categorized as a mid-size SUV. Below are a sample of its most notable stats:

  • up to 300 miles of range
  • expected 5-star safety rating
  • 3.5 seconds 0-60 mph
  • Up to 7 seats w/ optional third row
  • 0.23 drag coefficient
