This Week in Tesla - Cybertruck Spotted in the Wild, Model X VS. F-150 Tug-of-War

Cybertruck Spotted Being Driven by Elon Musk

This week, Tesla CEO Elon Musk was spotted in Los Angeles driving the new Cybertruck prototype around. It would appear that he was not using it for testing, but rather leisure as Musk was seen exiting the car at Nobu, a popular Japanese restaurant in LA. It is very impressive to see that they have so much trust in the reliability of the car that Elon himself is willing to drive it around. If the Cybertruck were to break down on the side of the road, it would be a massive spectacle and news story, possibly affecting the stock price.

The video below posted to Youtube shows the Cybertruck being driven on the 405 that night. One notable piece of insight evident from the video is that the headlights seem to not just be one consistent bar, but rather stronger at the ends, more like a traditional car.

Model X P100D vs. Ford F-150 Tug-of-War

After a high up executive at Ford challenged Elon Musk to a “real” tug-of-war match between the Cybertruck and the F-150, Elon agreed. Ford later released a statement saying that the employee was not speaking on behalf of the company and they have no intentions of making the match happen.

This week, a Youtuber posted the below video of a tug-of-war match between a Model X P100D and a new Ford F-150 Raptor. The Raptor is Ford’s highest performing production F-150, yet still has less power than the Model X. In the video, the Model X can be seen pulling the fuming gas guzzler, as the Model X has both more torque, and can employ it instantly.

It is also important to note that the original tug-of-war was called unfair due to, as Neil Degrasse Tyson pointed out, the Cybertruck being all-wheel drive while the F-150 was only rear-wheel drive. This gives a notable advantage to the all-wheel drive car, having four places to put power down rather than two. The race between the Model X and Raptor in the video addressed this issue as both cars are all-wheel drive.

If the Model X could beat the all-powerful Raptor, it follows that the Cybertruck should certainly be able to take down any of the competition.
