This Week in Tesla - Passing of NY “Right to Charge” Law Imminent, Model X Shocks With New Crash Test Results

Imminent Passing of NY “Right to Charge” Law

The New York State Senate bill S5157A is a massive step for the state of New York in terms of the right to install charging infrastructure for condominium owners whose building management is prohibiting them from installing chargers. The words of State Senator Neil D. Breslin best describe the bill:

“Provides that no covenant, restriction, or condition contained in any deed, contract, security instrument, or other instrument affecting the transfer or sale of any interest in a condominium and any by-laws that prohibits or unreasonably restricts the installation or use of an electric vehicle charging station is void.”

This bill is a big deal for condominium owners who would get an EV if they were allowed to install their own chargers.

Model X Shocks With New NCAP Crash Test Results

The Euro NCAP crash testing system is rigorous and has evolved to not only test the crash protection of a car, but test crash avoidance as well. The all electric SUV was also named a “standout performer” by the NCAP. After receiving an entirely 5 star crash test result from the NHTSA, the fact that yet another agency recognizes the safety of the vehicle means that Tesla has kept their promise of making the safest cars they can. The testing of the autopilot crash avoidance features mostly went well, with only one slip up of a fake pedestrian walking out from behind a car as the Model X drove by, but could not stop in time.
