This Week in Tesla: Referral Program Revamped, Semi Mobile Service Inbound

Referral Program Revamped -

After spending $23 million on free supercharging miles this year, Tesla has decided to give their referral program a much needed revamp. The referral system is paramount for Tesla because without any advertising, it is great to reward owners for sales that they might help produce. Over the years, the prizes have changed a lot, and at one point Tesla was giving away Roadsters to those who had a certain number of referrals. One flaw in the current referral system is that influencers and those with a large audience have amassed hundreds of thousands, if not millions of free supercharging miles, in addition to free cars. The upcoming system will reportedly be a more locally based system, allowing users to refer others using their mobile app rather than one link that can be used by anyone.

Semi Mobile Service Inbound -

Recently, the president of Tesla heavy trucking, Jerome Guillen, stated that Tesla will use its mobile service approach to servicing Semis. It was previously reported that Tesla is hiring service technicians specifically for Semis at a few different locations, but it is very interesting to hear that they will be taking a mobile service approach as well. Not only is it logistically harder to service a Semi due to its size, it will likely require technicians to be trained specifically to service them.
