Since last April, when Tesla updated the Model S & X to the “Raven” models, many have been wondering what they would do with the new suspension other than improving ride quality. As Tesla often does, they have thought of an innovative way to improve the car’s acceleration using the new suspension system. The previous launch mode would lower the car’s suspension in the rear and the front equally. The new suspension on the other hand, lowers the front suspension and leaves the rear suspension higher creating a “cheetah stance.” Tesla began to release the software update on Tuesday and some owners have already put the new launch mode to the test. One Model S owner found that 45 more horsepower were being put down with the new launch mode, as well as the 0-60 time being reduced from 2.47 seconds to 2.41 seconds. Although this is a small difference, it is great to see that Tesla is still innovating in ways no other car manufacturer would.
This year, Tesla almost entirely swept the 2020 Kelly Blue Book Luxury Brand awards. Tesla won all awards in the luxury category apart from the most trusted brand award, which went to Lexus. Tesla has won several industry awards in the past but this is the best they have done in terms of awards which signals the success of the Model 3 and the overall master plan. The full list of awards can be seen here.
It has frequently bugged Tesla owners that in order to watch back a Sentry Mode incident or something recorded on the built in dashcam, they need to remove the USB drive and access the files on a computer. Now, Tesla owners can freely view their saved clips inside the car. This feature does not just make one’s life easier, but could potentially help save someone from legal trouble. For example, if one is involved in an accident and the person who hit them says that they were not at fault, there is hard evidence available on the scene. It could also be helpful if one’s car is keyed or dinged in a parking lot and then they notice a scratch on the car, they can see the car or person that did it and not have to wait until they have access to a computer to view the footage. The new viewer interface allows owners to view different clips from the front camera, the left and right cameras, and the rear camera. This tweet perfectly shows what the new viewer looks like and highlights that Tesla is the only brand who notices a problem and fixes it over the air, rather than waiting for the next model year.
